Ream Beach
If you’re seeking a peaceful escape from the bustle of Sihanoukville’s town center, Ream Beach is your hidden gem. Tucked away in the Ream National Park, this untouched stretch of coastline offers a raw, natural beauty that’s hard to find on more crowded beaches.
Getting There
Ream Beach lies about 20 kilometers from central Sihanoukville, and getting there is part of the adventure. Head north along Route 4, then at the 18 km (near the airport), take a right turn. Follow the road straight for another 9 km, and you’ll be greeted by the calm sea and quiet charm of Ream.
The journey is smooth and straightforward, with little traffic and a scenic countryside backdrop. Even if you don’t have your own vehicle, several public transport options can take you close to the beach.
What to Expect
Ream Beach feels like a step back into nature. It’s not crowded or commercialized—in fact, you might share the beach more with local fishermen than tourists.
To the right, the beach stretches long and narrow. It’s a peaceful spot, backed by a mangrove swamp that draws an array of tropical birds, making it a great place for birdwatching or simply relaxing in nature.
Naval Base, a few local vendors have set up stalls selling drinks and renting out tubes. It’s slightly livelier here, but still far from crowded.
Stay in the Heart of Nature
For travelers looking to immerse themselves in the area, there’s a basic guesthouse run by Ream National Park. It costs just $5 per night, offering a no-frills but authentic way to experience the natural beauty around you. To book a room, simply stop by the Park Headquarters, located opposite the airport entrance.
